Dust Collector Solution for 500 kW and 1000 kW Coal Boilers

Customer Requirement
A customer recently asked for a dust filtration system for two coal-fired boilers: one 500 kW boiler and one 1000 kW boiler. The operating data provided by the customer was clear and useful for preliminary dust collector selection.
| Boiler Capacity | Flue Gas Temperature | Coal Consumption |
|---|---|---|
| 500 kW coal boiler | 200°C | 85 kg/h |
| 1000 kW coal boiler | 210°C | 170 kg/h |
For this type of coal boiler flue gas, the dust collector must handle high temperature, ash particles and stable airflow. A standard room-temperature filter is not recommended unless the flue gas is cooled and protected from sparks and high-temperature peaks.
Recommended Dust Collection System
For the 500 kW and 1000 kW coal boiler application, Shuokang recommends a combined system:
- Cyclone dust collector for primary dust separation
- Pulse jet baghouse dust collector for fine dust filtration
- High-temperature filter bags such as FMS or fiberglass filter media
- Induced draft fan matched to the required airflow and pressure
The cyclone dust collector removes larger ash particles before the gas enters the baghouse. This reduces the dust load on the filter bags, improves filtration stability and helps extend filter bag service life.
Why Use High-Temperature Filter Bags?
The customer reported flue gas temperatures of 200°C and 210°C. For this temperature range, the filter media should be selected carefully. FMS or fiberglass high-temperature filter bags are commonly used for boiler flue gas dust collection because they can work under higher temperature conditions than ordinary polyester filter bags.
When designing the system, it is also important to check moisture, sulfur content, acid dew point, spark risk and real flue gas volume. These factors affect filter bag material, air-to-cloth ratio, cleaning system and fan selection.
Preliminary Configuration Notes
For this case, a preliminary solution can use a cyclone dust collector before the pulse jet baghouse. The final airflow should be confirmed according to actual flue gas volume, duct layout and boiler operating condition. A cyclone with about 6000 m³/h airflow capacity may be considered as a starting reference for this type of small coal boiler project, but the final model should be confirmed by engineering calculation.
Information Needed for Final Quotation
To provide an accurate coal boiler dust collector quotation, the following information is recommended:
- Boiler capacity and fuel type
- Coal consumption per hour
- Flue gas temperature and possible peak temperature
- Estimated or measured flue gas volume
- Dust concentration and required emission standard
- Available installation space
- Whether the system requires fan, ducting, chimney or control cabinet
Conclusion
For 500 kW and 1000 kW coal boilers, a cyclone dust collector plus pulse jet baghouse dust collector is a practical and reliable solution for boiler ash and flue gas dust treatment. Shuokang can customize the dust collector, high-temperature filter bags, fan and complete system layout according to the customer’s boiler data and site conditions.
